Creating Safe, Equitable, Engaging Schools helps school leaders make sense of the various evidence-based resources and frameworks designed to support the whole child. Addressing critical topics like restorative practices, cultural responsiveness, social and emotional learning, and family engagement, it offers insights on how leaders can leverage school-based teams to assess student needs and select appropriate interventions. By taking a continuous improvement approach, Creating Safe, Equitable, Engaging Schools integrates the collective wisdom of 31 AIR experts and seven external contributors.
This Spanish adaptation of Creating Safe, Equitable, Engaging Schools is provided by Learning First Alliance, is edited by David Osher, Deborah Moroney and Sandra Williamson, and is translated by Layla Wright-Contreras. It contains a new preface by Richard Long and David Osher.
The book is intended to foster collaboration and further welcome Spanish-speaking families, educators, and organizations to respectful partnering and collaboration. The translated book can be used as a learning tool and roadmap for educators, families, and students to build and transform programs and lessons to create safe, equitable, engaging learning environments that support robust thriving and learning.
